OUT OF REACH

I walk along a lonely beach

The sands of time slip through my fingers

Knowing that you are out of reach

And yet, and yet, the memory lingers

Something burning deep inside us

Convinced me in my innocence

That there was nothing to divide us

Young and foolish, hard to teach

I stumbled into self-deception

All at once you’re out of reach

My jumbled thoughts beyond conception

Those days may never come again

So, I have to face my life anew

However much I feel the pain

I know I’ll still reach out for you
